Athletes foot is a rather common skin condition of the feet, caused by fungi. The fungus goes by the name of Trichophyton. Under moist, warm coniditions the fungus is able to thrive and as a result infect the outer layers of the skin. Athletes foot is caused by the same fungus that causes ringworm.
